Alex Lamb has crafted a terrific debut novel. If the subsequent volumes are as good as this one then Lamb will surely be prominent in many an SF fan's bookcase. Starburst Magazine Alex Lamb's debut, Roboteer is hands down an awesome debut. Science FIction is a saturated genre but Roboteer breaks through it and, well smashes through with is with some very cool new ideas... From the big picture of world building down to the critical features of mechanisms that make it twist and turn, the technology, and most importantly the characters, everything is shows until into the fine detail. I am looking forward to reading more of Alex Lamb's books, if this is just the start, hang on to your hats! tHE bOOK pLANK Although Lamb draws everything together in a satisfying way, there is clearly room for much more to be told about this universe and its characters. I don't know whether a sequel is planned or under way, but I hope so as I look forward to travelling there again! SF Crowsnest a fast paced, action adventure of a novel, with a good core protagonist/antagonist, within a universe I'm dying to hear more about. Worth picking up! Its plot is enormously enjoyable, putting us on the edge of our seat for much of the time. Alex Lamb writes so well and he also knows how to engage us with his characters. It is a very visual novel. There are moments of wonder, which I need in science fiction, and there are also great mysteries - none of which I've mentioned here as you need to discover them for yourselves. Above all else, though, Roboteeer is great fun! For Winter's Nights Lamb's worldbuilding is excellent: we see multiple levels of society in both tranches of humanity through assorted characters that are deftly drawn... Lamb leaves you wanting to learn more about all the societies he introduces... Sf Bulletin with cracking storytelling, top notch prose and a good helping cracking universe building all round gives the reader a book that is fun to spend time between the sheets with. About the Author
Alexander Lamb splits his time between writing science fiction, software engineering, teaching improvised theater, running business communication skills workshops, and conducting complex systems research.
He currently lives in Princeton, NJ with his wife, Genevieve Graves, an astrophysicist also at the university there, and their three month old son.

Exicing first novel

Alex Lamb uses a standard trope of a future Earth gone theocratic, trying to conquer and convert its former colonies. Galatea, a world still being terraformed, is vastly outnumbered. It has mods for people to make them stronger, faster, smarter and to connect to the robots around them. Even for a Roboteeer (paper from Gollancz) Will Kuno-Mone is unusual enjoying interacting not only with the robots under his control, but also the rest of the crew of the stealth ship Ariel. Earth has developed a sun-tap weapon, and the Ariel follows its commander to an amazing discovery, a world built by aliens. The new weapon is from alien technology, and as the crew of the Ariel discovers, created by transcended alien species. Species willing to self-edit are allowed to grow. The sun-taps marks the stars of those species unable to progress and allows the transcended to wipe them out. So will, also being modified by the transcended and the rest of his crew have to somehow stop a powerful Earth and return it to sanity. Getting there is very exciting with near-miss excitement as our heroes are captured and escape only to be captured again. Lots of fun with a solid ending. Review printed by Philadelphia Weekly Press

Extremely enjoyable romp through the galaxy and the nervous system

It's easy to say there's nothing new under the sun, but a good sci-fi writer knows that our sun is just one star among many, and as many variations can exist as there are stars. When an author has a strong love for science, Artificial Intelligence and social issues and wraps it up in a very readable novel, you've got something for which it is very worth sitting up and taking notice. I loved the ideas presented and explored in this novel, and even more, I love the fact that it's very smooth and enjoyable read.
I'm very much looking forward to further works by the author and hopefully new books in this series will be available soon.
For fans of: William Gibson & Arthur C. Clark (by that I mean people who love both authors and would love to see them collaborate on a modern novel)

Great, interesting book. Well worth your time and money.

Great book, interesting story and great imagination. I really enjoyed the science part of this. The only thing that I could complain about in this book is that it really doesn't leave room for a sequel. Damn shame that. I thought that the characters were well developed and I could easily understand most of their motivations (hard to get to with just one book). I highly recommend this book and look forward to more by this author. Loved the editing! Well done
