Easyway works

I've never been a drinker my whole entire life until recently. In my 40s, a successful businesswoman and mother of 3, I started drinking in the evenings "to relieve stress from my job." Soon, 1 became 2, then 2 became 3, and so on until I was drinking at least a bottle of wine every night, sometimes more. I knew I had developed a terrible habit. I could no longer imagine my life without alcohol. I truly felt I was receiving a benefit from consuming it, that it was making me happy and relieving my stress. Then the next day, I would feel sick and bleary-eyed, and went to work with a hangover many many times! The schizophrenia of part of my brain wanting a drink, and another part knowing I shouldn't, made it impossible to quit or even cut down by using Willpower. I read a few books about alcoholism, and I found this one for the Kindle. The name Easyway method sounded kind of hokey, so I was pretty skeptical. I resisted the urge to skip to the last chapters where the author explains the Easyway steps to quitting. It is absolutely necessary to read all the chapters leading up to these instructions! I used the highlight and bookmark features of the Kindle a lot. I have returned to re-read these parts many times. I would have to say that I no longer have any desire to have a drink, at any time. I now see it for what it is, a poison with absolutely no benefits than those that exist in the drinker's mind. And many, many, many devastating effects.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who feels his or her drinking has gotten out of control; that you no longer have control over your drinking! Just like a reviewer for the paperback edition, I too find it very beneficial to re-read the parts of the book that speak to me, and keep reviewing my highlighted passages. I am happy to be back to my pre-drinking status (where I didn't need alcohol for stress or happiness to begin with!)

I read up to the last chapter of Allen Carr's Easy Way to Control Alcohol (a more fleshed out version of this book), but wasn't feeling 100% positive about it before having my final drink, and thought I had maybe missed a point.

I started rereading the book, but it's too painful a read, but remembered seeing this in the bookstore, and that it was significantly shorter read.

I paid the $4, got it wirelessly delivered to my kindle and could read it in one sitting. By the end of it I felt as fantastic as I felt at the Easyway to Quit Smoking seminar, and knew that I had 'got it'.

I strongly recommend getting this book, especially if you are having difficulties with the Easy Way to Control Alcohol. I found it far easier to read.

I have no desire to ever drink again, and I have this book to thank!

About the Author
Andrew J. Cherlin is Benjamin H. Griswold III Professor of Public Policy and Sociology at Johns Hopkins University. He received a B.S. from Yale University in 1970 and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1976. He is the author of the McGraw-Hill textbook, Public and Private Families: An Introduction. His other books include Marriage, Divorce, Remarriage (revised and enlarged edition, 1992), Divided Families: What Happens to Children when Parents Part (with Frank F. Furstenberg, Jr., 1991), The Changing American Family and Public Policy (1988), and The New American Grandparent: A Place in the Family, A Life Apart (with Frank F. Furstenberg, Jr., 1986). In 1989-1990 he was chair of the Family Section of the American Sociological Association. In 1999 he was president of the Population Association of America, the scholarly organization for demographic research.

In 2005, Professor Cherlin was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship. He recived the Distinguished Career Award in 2003 from the Family Section of the American Sociological Association. In 2001, he received the Olivia S. Nordberg Award for Excellence in Writing in the Population Sciences; and in 1999, he was President of the Population Association of America. He was also received a Merit Award from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development for his research on the effects of family structure onchildren. His recent articles include "The Deinstitutionalization of American Marriage," in the Journal of Marriage and Family; "The Influence of Physical and Sexual Abuse on Marriage and Cohabitation," in the American Sociological Review; and "American Marriage in the Early Twenty-First Century," in The Future of Children.

He also has written many articles for The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Nation, Newsweek, and other periodicals. He has been interviewed on ABC News Nightline, the Today Show, network evening news programs, National Public Radio's All Things Considered, and other news programs and documentaries.

Great textbook

This is my textbook for Sociology of Family. It is a great textbook because it is easy to read, has glossary terms in bold, defines them on the side, has headings, and it gives you summaries after each section to refresh your memory instead of at the end of each chapter.

This textbook was used for Sociology of marriages and the family class. I didn't mind reading it as it had some interesting information in it and it was easier to read than a lot of textbooks. It explains things in a way you can understand instead of trying to sound really smart and superior like I get the feeling other authors try to do. This book also came in good condition!
