Full-On Lol-o-caust

This is the third Mhairi McFarlane book I've read in the last two months and I count the days until the next. She writes about women I can relate to, doesn't throw the characters into bed together on their first meeting or have them shop for shoes and clothing most women can't afford. The heroines are me and you with stand up comic sense of humours and real problems. I particularly loved how the man that cheated wasn't the typical bad boyfriend and the characters entered into a story arc likely to happen in real life. Part of me was still rooting for Paul.

This book took a unique angle with the fox who gave Delia courage and I liked how this theme was explored with the Naan as well, though I fully expected romance between these two at first.

Mhairi is a new fave author and I should be her USA bff.

Is it predictable, a little, but it's also very well written with contemporary themes, uplifting and pure fun to read. I just bought two extra copies to give away and then bought all of Mhairi McFarlane's other books.

About the Author
Sherrie Walker is a native Clevelander and is recognized throughout the Ohio area for showcasing another form of her writing skills, as playwright, along with partner Kecia Green. Both possessing a passion for writing, Sherrie and Kecia have been writing collaboratively for the past ten years. As playwrights, their work includes I m an Addict, The Answer Is, and Choices, later renamed You Reap What You Sow, all of three of which have toured extensively throughout the state of Ohio. In 1998, for the play Choices, they were recipients of the Best New Playwright Award from the internationally renowned Karamu House in Cleveland, Ohio. Mistress of the Game is Sherrie s debut novel and was inspired by the strong bonds of friendship in her own life, which have sustained her through many challenging years. Having just completed Mistress of the Game, Sherrie is hard at work outlining her next novel.

FIRST OF ALL ID LIKE TO SAY I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK IT READ LIKE A MOVIE TO ME. THREE YOUNG LADIES WHO ARE BROUGHT TOGETHER BY TRADGEDY BECOME EACH OTHERS SUPPORT SYSTEM,SISTERS,FAMILY. ELISE,LAKIESHA,AND APARIS. WITH ELISE WHO KEEPS IT GANGSTA AT ALL TIMES RUNNING THE FAMILY HOW CAN THEY NOT ACHIEVE WHAT THE FAMILY HAS SET OUT TO DO. I WONT GO INTO DETAIL ABOUT IT BUT IN ALL WARS THERE ARE CASUALTIES, QUESTION IS WILL THE FAMILY PULL THROUGH? YOUR GONNA HAVE TO COP IT TO FIND OUT CAUSE IM NOT TELLING.

This was by far the best book I've read in a long time. Ms. Walker put it down!!! I don't want to say too much about what happens in the book but Elise was not to be played with. Great Read!!!!
